Director of Membership & Business Development

Position: Director of Membership & Business Development

Reports to: President/CEO

Job Overview:

The Chamber of Commerce serving Johnson City, Jonesborough and Washington County seeks a Director of Membership & Business Development to lead the facilitation and coordination of Chamber membership planning, tracking, and implementation initiatives. Furthermore, this position is also the conduit for members and potential members to coordinate business assistance and new business development programs. The Director’s position will work with the Ambassadors and Business Development councils for advisory and strategic planning in these areas. The role of this position is to visit members and potential members at their locations to promote retention and recruitment of membership for the Chamber.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish business development resources and tools to promote Chamber members’ growth (plan and coordinate two CO.STARTERS classes annually; coordinate business sustainability and growth programs in partnership with TSBDC, ETSU, and Cloud Wise Academy)
  • Meet with current membership to provide assistance or services of the Chamber
  • Develop programming to promote membership recruitment and retention (plan and implement an annual membership campaign, quarterly New Member Orientations, member networking events, quarterly Membership Breakfasts, )
  • Facilitation of DEI-focused business development programming (Breaking Barriers/Minority Enterprise Development Week, multicultural networking events, etc.)
  • Manage CC-Assist (the Chamber’s CRM database) to track and report Chamber membership data
  • Oversee Chamber Ambassadors program
  • Coordinate ribbon cuttings for both members and non-members
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Chamber President/CEO

Skills Required:

Strong organizational and personal skills are necessary to work with a diverse array of Chamber members and business stakeholders. Strong sales experience preferred. Proficiency in networking and communication are imperative to be successful in this role.

Compensation Package:

Salary of $45,000-55,000 (based on experience) + commission and benefits (Vacation, Compensatory Time, Health Insurance, Life/LTD/ADD Insurance, Simplified Employee Pension Plan, Cell Phone)

One-day-per-week remote work opportunity and compensatory time available based on performance.

Director of Young Professional & Workforce Development

Position: Director of Young Professional & Workforce Development

Reports to: President/CEO

Job Overview:

The Chamber of Commerce serving Johnson City, Jonesborough and Washington County seeks a Director of Young Professional & Workforce Development to maintain and develop programs with the intent of retaining and recruiting young professionals, ages of 21-40, in our area. The Director will oversee the Young Professionals of Johnson City organization, which identifies and provides leadership and development programs that allow members to make connections with each other and in the community. The Director will also ensure this membership organization provides social and career-building opportunities, based on the requests of members and the YP Advisory Council.

The Director will also work with Higher Education partners to enhance intern and apprenticeship opportunities for students and young professionals in the business community. The Director will work with the Chamber’s Workforce Development Council and career partners to address community workforce opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop young professional branding, digital, and social media initiatives to engage and connect young professionals to the YP organization and Chamber
  • Coordinate young professional events and activities under the pillars of Connect, Lead, Serve
  • Work with YP Advisory Council to develop member outreach programs for young professionals
  • Work with Higher Education partners to facilitate the Young Professionals On Campus program at ETSU to encourage student internships in the business community
  • Serve as a point of contact between young professionals and business leaders
  • Coordinate with Chamber’s leadership for grants and enhanced non-dues revenues
  • Develop training and succession planning for young professionals to take leadership roles within the YP organization
  • Positively contribute to the Chamber’s team environment and internal culture
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by Chamber President/CEO

Skills Required:

A young professional with strong communication, organizational and personal skills to work with a diverse array of Chamber members, YP members and community stakeholders. Digital marketing and social media experience is imperative to connect with the YP membership. Strong experience with event coordination and technological skills are also needed to be successful in this role.
