Director of Membership & Business Development

Position: Director of Membership & Business Development

Reports to: President/CEO

Job Overview:

The Chamber of Commerce serving Johnson City, Jonesborough and Washington County seeks a Director of Membership & Business Development to lead the facilitation and coordination of Chamber membership planning, tracking, and implementation initiatives. Furthermore, this position is also the conduit for members and potential members to coordinate business assistance and new business development programs. The Director’s position will work with the Ambassadors and Business Development councils for advisory and strategic planning in these areas. The role of this position is to visit members and potential members at their locations to promote retention and recruitment of membership for the Chamber.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish business development resources and tools to promote Chamber members’ growth (plan and coordinate two CO.STARTERS classes annually; coordinate business sustainability and growth programs in partnership with TSBDC, ETSU, and Cloud Wise Academy)
  • Meet with current membership to provide assistance or services of the Chamber
  • Develop programming to promote membership recruitment and retention (plan and implement an annual membership campaign, quarterly New Member Orientations, member networking events, quarterly Membership Breakfasts, )
  • Facilitation of DEI-focused business development programming (Breaking Barriers/Minority Enterprise Development Week, multicultural networking events, etc.)
  • Manage CC-Assist (the Chamber’s CRM database) to track and report Chamber membership data
  • Oversee Chamber Ambassadors program
  • Coordinate ribbon cuttings for both members and non-members
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Chamber President/CEO

Skills Required:

Strong organizational and personal skills are necessary to work with a diverse array of Chamber members and business stakeholders. Strong sales experience preferred. Proficiency in networking and communication are imperative to be successful in this role.

Compensation Package:

Salary of $45,000-55,000 (based on experience) + commission and benefits (Vacation, Compensatory Time, Health Insurance, Life/LTD/ADD Insurance, Simplified Employee Pension Plan, Cell Phone)

One-day-per-week remote work opportunity and compensatory time available based on performance.
